I'm currently on a research trip for Wayward Strand!
Wayward Strand is a real-time story about a teenage girl who explores an airborne hospital and gets to know the patients within.
Real-time story; characters will move about of their own accord, on their own timelines, regardless of player interaction.
The real-time and choice based mechanics in this videogame, presents a few interesting composition problems. I'm hoping to explore and write about them further. Especially how I'll aim to be non-prescriptive in the player's emotional reactions to what they see and the actions they make.
Also, the game is set on the Bass Coast of Victoria! So, I've been thinking a lot about Australian sounds!
Keep track here!
As a rush job, I got to do the sound design for Cosmic Express! A puzzle game about planning the train route for the world's most awkward space colony. It's coming out soon, so check it out here!
Teaching at the Australian Institute of Music, I was able to provide my students the opportunity to work on Invert, by Glitchnap. Glitchnap is a Copenhagen based studio, and the students learnt valuable skills to contribute to game development, and working remotely.
The score is beautiful, and has added much depth to and otherwise minimalist game. Check out Glitchnap here!
